: 16, 2017 1:33 pm : Is a self tapping screw suitable? |

As in my previous thread, I tried to use easy-out to remove a broken bolt (6mm). The drilling was centered and straight. The Grabit #1 easy-out went in perfectly. But with not much force, the Grabit broken inside.
The only purpose of this screw hole is to attach a sub-ground cable. I give up on trying to get the stud out.
Here is my plan B:
Drill a hole next to the broken stud and secure the cable with a screw. The material is cast aluminum.
The question is: will a self tapping screw work? or I'd better get a tap and die set?
